Originally cut in 1998 for a Flying Bomb Records Christmas single, The White Stripes’ ‘Candy Cane Children’ was reissued first in 2002 and then again in 2011 by (among other labels) Jack White’s own Third Man. This is the latter reissue that we’re dealing with here. ‘Candy Cane Children’ is the kind of rawer-than-raw garage-blues stomp that Jack and Meg built their empire on. The Merry Christmas From… B-sides find the duo getting a bit more festive - Meg sings ‘Silent Night’ while Jack reads from the Bible. God bless us, every one.
