Back before Jack White took it upon himself to be The Most Serious Man In The World he was actually quite funny. Case in point - this 2000 single from The White Stripes and its ‘Trendy American Mix’ of De Stijl highlight ‘You’re Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl)’. It’s the same song, but White’s vocals have been hyper-autotuned in a manner that transcends its novelty value and becomes actually just good. The other side of this 7”, originally put out as a Stripes tour single and now reissued by Third Man, is a cover of Blind Willie McTell’s ‘Lord Send Me An Angel’.
