6/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 30 November 2011
Woman's Hour are a new group gaining high praise in the likes of Loud & Quiet magazine. Originally hailing from Kendal but now residents of 'that London', the group formed out of a mutual boredom for their surroundings though I also get the impression that they may have seen a opportunity and a small space for them on a certain bandwagon, that Bandwagon being the African influenced Indie-Pop bandwagon. Not sure how they managed to find themselves a spot on this already bustling transport but with the help of Wild Beasts producer Richard Formby they've managed to forge themselves a hit in this arena entitled 'Jenni'. Flip it and 'Human' brings with it a minimalism that betrays the A-side's corniness and suggests there's probably more to the group than I initially thought. Not much more though.
