7/10 Vinyl G Customer review, 28th January 2014

In 2011, long time friends Eugene S Robinson of Oxbow and Chuck Dukowski of Black Flag got together to record four songs Dukowski had written for the latter band shortly prior to his departure from them. To assist them in this venture, Robinson recruited former Oxbow drummer Tom Dobrov, and Dukowski brought along Chuck Dukowski Sextet guitarist Milo Gonzalez. Half of the result is this 7". The A side, I Want to Kill You, sounds like vintage, angry, My War-era Black Flag. Robinson shouts and screams over the top of Gonzalez's frenetic, staccato guitar and the solid, interlocking rhythm section of Dukowski and Dobrov. The track kicks like a shot of meths. I would have liked to have heard the other two songs they recorded, but apparently Dukowski put the kibosh on Black Face as he was unhappy with the way this 7" turned out. At the time of writing, Robinson is reportedly preparing to reform the band with Cro-Mags wild man Harley Flanagan on bass and take them on tour. Which should be interesting...
