What a duo these guys are! Their work as individual artists is great but when they get together, tooled up with Xenakis' UPIC system some mind bending shit happens. This is their second full length album following the critically acclaimed 'Blackest Ever Black' on Warner Classics and 'UPIC Warp Tracks' on erm Warp. This release continues the paris explorations into Dynamic Stochastic Synthesis, this time soundtracking the 'Kanal Video' film by Peter Fischli & David Weiss. The film was made without any audio but surely any film “which consists of an hour long 'ride' through the Zurich sewage system, with a remotely controlled maintenance vehicle equipped with a video camera to survey the sewers for eventual irregularities of defects” deserves a soundtrack right? And these are the men for the job. What they've created is seizure, psychosis, inducing electronic music that at times feels like my ears are being raped by possessed electronic bees. In the best possible way. A total sonic headfuck from beginning to end. It's a shame the DVD is audio only as I'd love to hear it along with the visuals but I guess they might take that on the road.
