- Too Far [ Dettmann's Definitions ] by Morphosis
8/10 Brian Staff review, 19 January 2012
Morphosis is a chap called Rabih Beaini, a Lebanese born techno producing auteur whose album 'What Have We Learned' created waves last year. This is pretty cool this remix twelve and one of the first things I've heard bar the epic Pinch and Shackleton remix that got released earlier this year. The original, a CD only cut from that very album, is a beaut in its own right with a sad-eyed and soulful female vocal riding a mid paced techno brooder filled with eastern mystique. The two Dettmann re-rubs take the tune into heavier thumping moody 4/4 realms without detracting from the spiritual vibe of the original too much and its all-enveloping smoky aura of regret. So the original for the home and heart, Marcel's re-imaginings are more suited to the dancefloor on Saturday night at your favourite out-of-town club. Deep and mystical stuff.
