Right. White Hills. We all know they fucking rule! They've got the strength and the sophistication to out-match many of their peers in the world of epic space rock. Their riffage is off the charts, right up there with The Heads, Gnod and Electric Wizard in my opinion. They also have a knack for tapping into the better moments of Hawkwind's career (of which there aren't all that many) whilst not sounding like a bunch of soft headed, limp wristed drug causalities with wind chimes on the mind. For me every release has been a worthwhile listen as they hit us with mass riffs without the ridiculous improv psych trappings of say Acid Mothers Temple or the tongue in cheek knowingness of Boris. Oh, and they slay live as is made very much apparent on this CD documenting their performance at the Roadburn festival. Here we are treated to five gems from the back catalog performed with absolute conviction at the loudest volume possible. 'Three Quarters' sounds awesome. Bring it.
