Ensemble Economique is the tongue-in-cheek name of Starving Weirdo Brian Pyle's solo thing he does. It's synth-and-loop based stuff that's totally relaxing and melodic and gently paced and it's helping me calm down, since I'm completely hyperactive today in anticipation of tomorrow's big ATP mission that I won't shut up about. I reckon everyone else in the office must be pretty fucking sick of my chirpiness today. Anyway, this record's all about the sparse beats and smooth synth tones taking you on chonged out flights of fancy that are really deep and expressive, duuuude. Woah. Awesome collage on the front cover, too. And before this record this guy has put stuff out on Not Not Fun and Amish, which sounds pretty goddamn pedigree to me. You can totally see why, by the evidence of these gently grooving, slightly sinister explorations in cosmic scrumptiousness. All the cuts on here so seductive and creamy I don't know what to do with myself. He's painstakingly created all these idyllic tone landscapes for you to hang out in, it'd be rude not to have a wander around, right?
