Floex is Thomas Dvorak who did that ace Machinarium album that came in a while back (soundtrack to the video game if you're interested). Here Thomas plays a variety of instruments including clarinet, piano, clarinet without mouthpiece, tenor saxophone, metalophones, bowed metalophone, shakuhachi, samplers and synths. That's a lot of instruments! There's also a ton of other guests on the album who help out playing even more instruments! The opener is a nice crunchy melodic tune with lots of piano and layers going on. Busy! The album veers from strange crunchy electronics, to layered ambient soundscapes, to neoclassical numbers, to odd Philip Glass-esque style tunes with souly female vocals, to more jazz laden instrumentals. It's all over the shop but what it is is a thoroughly fascinating modern electronica album with a beating heart of classic instrumentation. There's not a bad track on it and there's more ideas on single tracks here than most albums have from start to end. Excellent work!
