Don't know this artist at all but I like the way he is introduced in the press release: 'Vancouver's Konrad Jandavs - purveyor of Kosmische Trash, noxious electronics and deep and frazzled future-scapes - is No UFO's'. So, that gives you an idea of what to expect from 'Mind Controls The Flood'; decent Kraut and Kosmische inspired experimentation using guitars and electronics. This five-track EP hits on a NEU! vibe and runs with it introducing dirtier sounds than would ever have been considered by Rother's and Dinger but robbing us of the tasty beats you'd associate with that style. What you're left with is a tasteful selection of post-Kosmiche tracks that only occasionally get going, with the best example being the piano led 'Ted And Monty' that finally brings the beats. Definitely a contemplative affair and a grower in the right listening environment, ie; sitting comfortably with headphones after a king size bong. OH!
