8/10 Clinton Staff review, 17 November 2011

I've just looked at my 2006 review of these people's debut album in which I come across as a child having been given his first ever record to review. Actually it probably was. I'd like to think we've come a long way on the reviewing stakes since then here at Normans with our sophisticated word play and clever side-splitting jokes. But for one night only I will go back to me 2006 reviewing style - the 'classic' reviewing style re-visited! So this is Ian Mckaye who used to play in a big popular group called the Fugazi, here he is joined by a lady called Amy. Ian plays the guitar and sings. Amy plays the drums. Melodically it sounds a bit like Pinback, dynamically like The Breeders or Josephine Wiggs or Sleater-Kinney. I'm a bit disturbed by Mr. Mackay's squeaky falsetto attempt on side B otherwise its a very nice record particularly on the A side.
