With a name like Pink Skull I half-expected these guys to be dealing in White Hills-style windblown psychedelic rock. Miles off, as usual. In fact Pink Skull are peddling a progressive and synthetic style of mostly-instrumental pop, which blends '80s pop influences with the tones and pacing of the recent kosmische revivalists. You can expect casually developing synthpop gems with pumping minimal electronic beats, creating a bright and spacious sound that's genuinely improving my day as the brash, brassy warmth of the synthesiser is harnessed to fine effect to lift a little of the weight from my weary shoulders. It might be a little bit Jean-Michel Jarre in places but that's no bad thing if you ask me. Not much to add, really. If you think what I just wrote sounds like it should be good, you'll probably be in raptures over this indulgent little treat.
