Heavenly Beat is a new project from Beach Fossils bassist John Peña. Been waiting for this 7” to arrive for what seems like forever. Wonder what the hold up was? Anyway, Peña hits us with a blissful pop style that touches on elements of Beach Fossils aswell other indie pop staples. 'Suday' brings to mind Pinback with it's basic groove playing host to minimalist (and in the case, slightly tropical) guitar playing and a laid back vocal.  Flip it and 'Desire' continues the theme for light and breezy jams with the influence of The Sea And Cake being very much apparent - vocal included. Little bit late to capitalise on the tracks summer vibe but it's a nice reminder of back in the day...when it wasn't so ridiculously cold.
