DJ Shadow’s sample-built 1996 debut album Entroducing….. has all the drama you’d expect from a title with ellipses two-thirds longer than the standard. As tense as it slaps, this is truly one of the the best instrumental trip/hip-hop albums ever made. The deluxe edition comes with expanded liner notes, photos, alternate versions, and remixes from the likes of Kuedo and Teklife.

The definition of a classic, there's nothing more that needs to be said apart from that.

Classic albums are ten a penny... Look at them all sitting there. You've got so many of them they're making your shelf warp. But how many of them are truly ground breaking? And of these, riding in the vanguard, how many haven't succumbed to their own success and become passé from adoption, repetition and imitation?

DJ Shadow's Endtroducing can stick it's hand up and scream "MEEEEEE!". Every track feels fresh and new and glorious, having not listened to it properly in good wee while. Nothing here sounds staided or rote or identikit; rather, this is an album while inspirational is impossible to properly mimic. I urge you and implore you, if haven't got this album that you should get it bought. He samples Metallica for heaven's sake! That's trip-hop's peak.
