8/10 Andrew Customer review, 20th September 2014
Interesting collection, basically its a dig through Now Again records archives picking out tracks from the more afrocentric and psychedelic corners of theur vaults, which is no bad thing even though the collection suffers slightly from being a little singular in its sound. One or two curve balls may have given the album a bit of variation that could have lifted this to a 9/10.
However, to criticise too much is to be churlish as there are fine selection of artists to be found. Damon's Dont You Feel Me is a haunting ballad (though a dirge psyche ballad, as opposed to Westlife). Karl Hector and The Malcouns Sahara Swing is great, slightly eastern vibes to the afro rock sound, if you like this you should really check out the newly re-issued album of the same name. Rikki Illonga appears 3 times, which isn't as indulgent as it could be as the contributions are worthwhile. Koushik does his folky, hip hoppy, hazy thing, everyones favourite Iranian rocker Kourosh Yaghamaei fuzzes through Gole Yakh, with Galt MacDermot track American Express adding some class to the sometimes hazy, dusty feel found elsewhere.
With many more treasures to uncover, this is a disc well worth investigating. As a sampler for the delights to be found deeper in the Now Again catalogue it should carry a health warning.... 'Caution, these tracks may prove harmful to your wealth'.
