Orca Team are back with a nice little surf pop ditty called 'Take My Hand', disappointingly not a cover of Matt Berry's recent pop gem of the same name. The A-side here has a blurred '60s shuffle all reverbed up to give the production a Doors-esque feel. The groove is totally danceable and there's some great vocal harmonies and it's got a slight slacker feel like that new Real Estate album (I know it's not out yet but we span the promo yesterday and it sounds righteous). I'm totally enjoying this mix of the modern slacker garage sound with the rock 'n' roll structures and conventions. It's very effective. They take things down a bit on the flip with a quirky number called 'Me & My Lonesome' which recalls TMBG's songwriting charm and then a more straight '60s pop one called 'Fight Song'. The lead track's much better than these but they're alright.
