6/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 28 September 2011

It's been a while since Aidan Baker graced the Norman offices with a new record. It must have been like, atleast two or three weeks. OH! Just a little joke there for you regular Norman lads. Anyhows, Toronto's favoured guitar hero returns with a live album of a performance from November 28, 2009 at Casa del Popolo in Montreal. Recorded by Eric Quach (aka Thisquietarmy) this document sees Baker teamed up with Kevin Micka (a.k.a Animal Hospital) who adds consciously subtle drums to Aidan's already subtle compositions taking them from the territory of ethereal drone into more post-rock oriented territory...sort of. It's obvious that these two artists share a rapport for the understated and tasteful side of composition so it will come as no surprise to you kids that this works really well, and with three songs performed in just over thirty minutes they're in no rush either. Warm, mumbly stuff.
