8/10 Dave Staff review, 22 September 2011

Raucous garage rock from two of Austins favourite rock bands, John Wesley Coleman and Followed By Static. They have 4 tracks each to offer and they are all quite excellent. Up first is John Wesley Coleman, who gets things going in suitably raucous manner. Their 4 tracks sound great, they have Nuggets style guitar fuzz, served up with the best garage rock intentions. It sounds a bit JSBX vocally and quite unhinged musically. It's loud and very direct. It has some great moments, and track 4 on "Personality Pancake" is fucking ace! It's called "If Guiseppe Andrews Hears This Song, Tell Him To Give Me A Call And Lets Party". It has a sweet chord progression, which is catchy and quite emotive, actually...and it's about Guiseppe Andrews!! What more do you want?!? This for me is the standout track on this side. It's just ace. The flip side is next up, and Followed By Static are next to the plate. They are an experimental pop band, who dabble in the rock tradition. It's a loud and layered affair, that reminds me of The Butthole Surfers, or a less helium and LSD soaked Flaming Lips. They have some great moments too. They just sound ace. Did I even hear a slight rockabilly influence? I think I did. These guys sound...well a bit bizarre, they have a powerful pounding sound that threatens to kill your speakers and your earpipes. Their song "Cop Gloves" is also a standout track. It might be contender for single of the year. A dynamic duo of a record that will make many a grown man cry...
