Hey you can always count of The Great Pop Supplement to come up with the goods.  This week they've got 2 singles out. I picked up this Savaging Spires one as I was intrigued by 'em cos of the name and I never got to hear the recent album on Critical Heights. I wish I had now! 'Bending The Rules Of Time' is a lo fi folk pop ditty with toytown instruments and a load of people singing together all choir like. It's delightfully simple and one of the most charming pieces of pop I've heard in a while. Catchy 'n all! But there's 2 more songs on here so this seven inched white beast has more to offer. 'When The Devil Says He's Dead' is a wonky stripped back strum-a-thon with those choral vocals popping up once again.  Flip it over and you're treated to the 6 and a half minutes 'The Book of The Dead'. Again with the charming, again with the toytown feel, again with the vocals. It's all there in spades. What a brilliant little 7”.
