I don't massively understand Rustie either but at least his records have some flow, dynamism and real impact. It's that space-age soul thing, that plastic vocodered euphoria I struggle with, but this 'Ultra Thizz' tune still has enough delirious clout, stalking momentum and mad electro-funk spunk to even (possibly) make me raise my stumpy Bradford arms aloft on the dancefloor. Rustie 1, Brian 0. The other track has that cyber-ambient fog to it shrouding a meandering tune that has some all-too-brief techno beats but plenty of disorientating sparkly synth splurged all over it. Perplexing but entertaining, his eventual full-length album I DO actually look forward to hearing...
