Another record of cosmic goodness, 'The Peregrine' is an aural tribute to a book by J.A. Baker conducted in seven musical movements that segue immaculately into one another (bar the bridge between the the last on side one and the first on side two!!). As rich, absorbing fuzzy drones swell and fall whilst sounding very much like Tim Hecker or Stars of the Lid you realise this is a very dense work on a grand scale. I can understand that the sheer power of this music demands a vinyl pressing. With this odyssey of soft noise and amorphous dream-like sonic waves Lawrence English creates a thoroughly lush ever-evolving tapestry that stirs the soul. I cannot talk much more about it constructively as, with much of this music, it requires personal seclusion and immersion to appreciate its finer subtleties and emotive depth. Words become nothing when put up against a serene and calming opus such as this.
