Finally this brilliant series of releases sees light of day on CD, remastered specifically for the digital format. The trilogy began back in 2006 with the second volume arriving the following year and the third in 2008. The records were limited and have never been re-pressed and are highly collectible, so owning all three is now possible thanks to this exquisitely packaged three disc set. They vanished so quickly we never did get a chance to write about them so it's nice for me to have the opportunity to do so now as for me it's a very spiritual sound. The original editions were dedicated to La Monte Young, Charlemagne Palestine and Pauline Oliveros which gives an indication of where Eleh has been inspired. For those unfamiliar with the Eleh sound then you should know that this mysterious entity creates highly minimal electroacoustic/analog synthesis sounds of pure tone. It is sound in its purest form, exploring acoustic phenomena and tonal juxtapositions. Simple wave forms are manipulated with subtle precision and the results are often brain melting bass sounds with transcendental properties. It's sound that you almost feel you can reach out and touch, such is its physical presence (volume reveals detail). Often it becomes so hypnotic that it's difficult to determine whether the tone has changed/is changing or whether it's just one's sense of perception playing tricks. Clearly this stuff is an acquired taste, but if you are so inclined it's a great place to simultaneously spend some time and even forget about time.
