Spectrum Spools is already on its seventh release and this one is a beauty. Not the creamy nu-kosmische I was expecting but some super slick techno. 'Application' is like something that would come out on Sandwell District or Ostgut Ton. Mid-tempo with distant sirens, reverb soaked drums and then a monster of a tearing synth enters the mix and just absolutely blows my mind. It's pure futuristic techno filth at its finest. This will totally wreck a club. 'Protrusion' is kind of quirky with refined percussion and squiggling, filtering synths spiralling around. Dancefloor compatible too. 'Dissolve' is another fine techno beast with extended head mashing breakdown and semi-industrial drums, swarm of bees sounding synth and lots of bleep action. 'Overflow' is an itchy acidic electro number with bubbling liquidy textures. 'Rattler' is a steady paced drum machine groover with weird alien processed vocal snippets, funky wobbly bassline and loads of cerebral synths. Totally love this record.
