This is a totally cool little slice of wax. I'd not actually heard these guys before but they're a vintage post-punk girl band from Switzerland. This EP originally came out in 1978 but I think it still sounds pretty fresh now. By modern standards it's all pretty minimal, with the drums and bass holding down a groove while the guitar just picks out little flourishes for emphasis pretty much. It's all about the multi-vocal attack here though really. It's all delivered in a shambolic but not too confrontational kind of half-spoken, half-shouted delivery, a bit like when Kim Gordon gets a bit excited and drops the whole breathy nonchalance thing. I guess the obvious reference points here would be the likes of Bow Wow Wow and X-Ray Spex, that kind of cheerleader-esque drums-and-chanting early girl punk sound. Most of the singing is in English, bus some of it isn't. All four songs are really good, though - there's no obvious throwaway B sides here at all. A welcome excursion to a simpler time. I wholeheartedly approve.
