This “full lengher” is Total Slacker's debut effort. They have released a couple of singles this and that side of the “pond”. They have a few interesting weapons at their disposal. They have upbeat songs that sound quite loose, yet supremely well formed song ideas that don't outstay there welcome, vintage equipment that sounds ace and a laid back vocal approach that would sit well with Malkmus or one of those fellers...and they have Beirut's main singer/songwriter Zach Condons younger brother on drums. Ross Condon is a pretty good drummer, I like his style. Total Slacker are very much like their name, in a way, but the way they effortlessly knock out sweet tunes is anything but slack. This record is full of good songs and good honest slacker rock staples. Rough production, sweet harmonies and a really cool looking sleeve. My choice cuts are 'Stuck In 93' which has a certain charm that I find endearing and the brilliant “Secret VHS Collection” which is pop perfection...almost. A genuinely promising effort and a piece of slacker wonder...
