Wooden Wand's newie is in fact an oldie. If you think that doesn't make sense, then you can have a geez at the track listing on the back cover. You will find some of the tracks were recorded in 2000..or Y2K if you wanna be a dick about it. This LP is a collection of his (James Toth's) most intimate and soulful home recordings and demos. It's a very stripped back affair, a late night with a bottle of whiskey and photos of your long lost lover type of affair. It's mostly just voice and guitar, and it's very bleak yet has moments that are uplifting. The compositions are simple and have many a sad tale to tell. It's not as bleak as being in a room with Harry Redknapp but it's quite an introspective, soul baring slab of weird folk music and Americana. All of his songs have familiar themes; loss, love, regret, and the feeling you get when you Know that somewhere out there, there's a duck watching you. Mebbe not the last part but you get my drift. It's a solid record that has enough moments of tragic beauty to keep any country mumbler happy. Comes in a fancy french sleeve and is limited to 400 copies. An album that touches and pulls your heartstrings...not that there's anything wrong with that...
