10/10 Joel Customer review, 7th August 2014
Wildlife by The Icarus Line is not their best album. It could be their worst album, actually. But the band itself is perfect. The Icarus Line have existed for over 10 years now and should be a hugely successful band but they're not, which is a load of shit.
Between 'liberating' Stevie Ray Vaughan's signed guitar from a display case mid show, to playing a 40 minute version of The Stooges L. A. Blues in a support set solely to upset a disrespectful crowd, The Icarus Line are finally a band that live up to the rockstar persona your mum warned you about in school.
Their albums are just as aggressive as their live shows, making guitars sound dangerous again. While this is not the best place to start for a new fan (try Penance Soiree or Slave Vows), its definitely worth hearing for everyone.
In a world ruled by Vampire Weekend and The Strokes, its so refreshing to finally have a band that don't look like they've been dressed by a stylist.
