This is gothy shoegaze that sounds like it was recorded really loud. On 'Pleasures' the drum machine beats are distorted to fuck as a wash of guitar and synth bleats out a repetitive melody. It's actually got a really uplifting vanishing-into-the-sunset feel about it. On the flip the drums are cleaner but this time the vocals are distorted in the more minimal and downbeat 'Deathwish'. The stoical minimalism of this one is like a more gothic Joy Division. It's interesting how they've brought the lo-fi recording techniques of garage rock into a new context like this. You probably don't care but each song ends with a looped run-out groove.
