It's time for something smooth and creamy folks...mmm...smooth and creamy. Nathan Davis is an extremely well respected jazzer (saxophonist to give him his correct title). Over the years he's played with some jazz luminaries as Eric Dolphy, Art Blakey and Ray Charles. I suspect he needs no introduction at all but I have no idea what you know of him. I am no mind reader, I'm just a little chap with glasses. This comp (which has been out before on vinyl) takes some of his finest work from his most prolific period, the mid 60's to the mid 70's. There's some prime cuts on here as well ranging from the more loungey sounding jazz to some proper mental freeform stuff with his sax blaring out all over the shop. Plenty of flute as well...you can't help but admire a good jazz flute. There's one mega funky tune in the middle of the album which is pleasing me greatly. If you're not familiar with his work but are into sax jazz this seems like a great place to start.
