Is this more of that witch-house shit? I must admit some of the deeper chill-wave and less mardy sounding sandwich house has certainly done it for me and happily this album certainly sounds pretty cool at many junctures. A true antidote to Bonnie 'Pauper' Iver, this CD makes good use of those shifting, phased hazy-sounding synths and weird, ghostly panned vocal snippets under which stomps a mogadon disco beat on 'Too Much To Lose'. If there's one complaint here it's the over-use of that morphed and stretched soulful vocal style that Burial pioneered. The music kind off falls into a no man's land between glistening dream pop and foreboding stumbling glitchy electronica whilst stern arpeggiated synth lines coat everything in a shimmering glow. If you like the gear on Tri Angle or that little-known garage producer Burial, this falls some place in between...
