I like this guy. He has the some of funniest press shots ever (just Google Image search and sit back...). His music is just as unhinged and playful as some of his photos. It's a beguiling concoction of Eastern scales, glitchy beats and crazed hip-hop. It has a DEVO feel to it as well which I like. It has some really funny moments and is highly energetic and danceable. It also has an Eats Tapes/DAT Politics feel. It sounds great. The programmed beats and arrangements are top class, as is the LP cover/artwork. It has elements of J-pop at its most tuneful and some songs that make you guffaw at their silliness. One of the tracks has a lyric about "throwing a sea-bass around...". It's an amusing surreal experience. It's a fairly unrelenting album. It has moments of pure nonsense and a few moments that are almost introspective and soaked in Far Eastern goodness. It's a record that will divide opinion, but as with most things, this is not a bad thing. My favourite song so far is the rather excellent song about eating seafood. Three minutes of surreal wonder. Embrace this guy or else he might come round to your house and do something to you like in one of his press shots. A hyperactive wah of a record...ACE!!!
