9/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 27 May 2011

I'm reviewing this one in brief thirty second chunks as I don't wanna crack open the vinyl and the mp3's I have are just little snippets of each track. That's not effecting my enjoyment of the music though as Cooper Crane (a.k.a Bitchin Bajas and one quarter of psych rock band Cave) has got the gift for sumptuous synth composition. 'Water Wrackets Film Score' is the results of Crane being ask to score a remake of Peter Greenaway's classic short film 'Water Wrackets'. With only the guidance of a few short previews Crane has come up with a whole new world of music to accompany the film. Inspired in some part by electronic film composers like Merodor, Vangelis and Jan Hammer but with  healthy regard for Krautrock and psychedelia 'Water Wrackets...' at times sounds like the Lost soundtrack to Blade Runner before switching on itself in favour of a Goblin-esque obscure Italian cop show theme. There's a bit of everything going on here and from the brief minutes I've been exposed to I certainly hungry for more... maybe I should crack that seal after all. Great sounding album in one of toughest sleeves I've seen in a while. You could take a man down with this package that's for sure.
