8/10 Clinton Staff review, 10 June 2011

They've got the bloody label mixed up. I've just reviewed the B side as the A side and was underwhelmed. It starts out well, rather like a solo Mercury Rev performing underwater. Genderless vocals and a watery guitar/keyboard motif but just when you are expecting a killer chorus, it goes into a wibbly music box interlude and then back to where it started. The playing around with sounds as it fades doesn't really create any dynamics or interest. The B side (actually A side) is more fully realised though, a nice little pop ditty in an Atlas Sound style again with guitars sounding like they were played in a swimming pool. It recalls Real Estate and any number of the Woodsist underground. So eventually the whole thing makes sense.
