Nowadays people know Suspiria as the 2018 horror flick that provided Thom Yorke with the opportunity flex his film-scoring muscles for the first time. However, what fewer people realise is that Suspiria is actually an updated version of Dario Argento’s 1977 movie of the same name, and that Argento’s Suspiria was followed with sequel Inferno three years later. Inferno is notable for being one of Argento’s only films that wasn’t scored by Goblin. In this instance Argento enlisted the services of Keith Emerson - he of Emerson, Lake & Palmer - and got himself an OST that mixed Carpenter-ish electronics, microtonal string pieces ala György Ligeti and proggy keyboard vignettes. Now Inferno’s music has been remastered and reissued courtesy of Waxwork.
