8/10 Dave Staff review, 10 June 2011

The bearded half of  MV/EE steps into the fold as a solo artist. She really knows her way around a tune...oh, it's the OTHER one. The sounds that emanate from this bearded wonder are very interesting indeed. It's a sort of folk psych fest. It's layered with lush guitar and breathy reverb style vocal meanderings. I'm sure I just heard a sitar. It wouldn't surprise me if I did. The songs on this record are sort of gentle offerings that sound quite tripped out and have one foot in the celestial ball park...the other foot is firmly camped out in a veggie soup kitchen with Swampy just out of shot. The album is a strong collection of psychedelic style songs underpinned with a relaxed feel. You are kind of taken in by its gentle, almost serene feel. It's not Californian style hippie bullshit though. You feel there is a darker side to some of the songs. It's not all sweetness and wind chimes. Not all the time anyway. The record does have a laid back kind of thing going on. The songs are pretty strong, the production is great and the whole thing works. My favourite song at the moment is the rather bewitching "PK Dick". Its a great song amongst other rather great songs. A sturdy full-lengther from MV that will sound best when played while relaxing in a comfy chair, toking on lifepipes...
