7/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 12th February 2015
The Bigger Lovers were a short-lived power pop band from Philadelphia. “How I Learned To Stop Worrying” was their debut album from 2001. They released two albums after this before disbanding in 2005. This album does everything that you want a power pop album to do, really. In the vein of Velvet Crush or Nada Surf without quite reaching the heights either of those bands managed. There’s a few two-minute songs on here where the band seem to execute the power pop thing best, sharper riffs, brighter melodies. “Catch & Release” and “Forever Is Not So Long” are good examples. However, the longer songs tend to lose their way a little, “Change Your Mind” is a bit of a dirge. Overall, pretty good though.
