8/10 Dave Staff review, 13 May 2011

More time travel hi-jinks for this intrepid reviewer as he goes yet again to the early to mid 1950s and refuses to review anything post rock and roll. If I don't get this review done in time I might never be born. Little Esther (or Esther Williams) is another amazing sounding big band singer who back in the day also dabbled in R&B, soul music and copious amounts of hard drug abuse. The title track is fabulous. You can see how a load of modern day singers (step forward Duffy) have been "influenced" by this helium voiced first lady of R&B. Its a fantastic exercise in big band songsmithery. Its great but probably could have used some soaring backing vocals from Michael McDonald and mebbe a sweet guitar solo from Christopher Cross. Another sweet musical curio.
