8/10 Brian Staff review, 19 May 2011
Blooming post-rock time now. I'm unsure how to accurately describe this, it's a very melodic and sweetly executed instrumental rock album with progressive and electronic undertones. Lots of dynamic, playful percussion; woozy old analogue synths adding a really spacious, exploratory dimension; inspired splashes of colourful guitar work and plenty of sympathetically funky bass strokes. The actual style of music (arpeggiated and slightly noodly with numerous crafty time-changes) is nothing new but there's enough un-showy dynamism and a resolutely crisp widescreen atmosphere to effortlessly transcend any lingering feelings of travelling down a well-worn, over-familiar path. Good stuff, I can see Epic 45 or Billy Mahonie fans & old cerebral Chicago heads digging this baby...
