It may seem ironic that the biggest-selling album in jazz history is such a subtle and understated beast - perhaps less so when you consider it as a sublime masterpiece of subtlety and understatement. Improvisation is an enigmatic and elusive thing, especially at the envelope-pushing level captured here, with Miles and sidemen forging ahead and abandoning the strictures of hard bop for the relative freedom of a modal approach. Even for musicians of the calibre of Coltrane and Bill Evans, there’s a special unplannable magic here, where every player is utterly in the zone and in synergy. They all unleash majestic lines like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
Kind of Blue is no daunting, towering edifice - it doesn’t insist on itself, but is a gently seductive and laidback entity. It’s beautifully recorded record too, and one of the nicest vinyl experiences you can have.

10/10 Eddie McGee Customer review, 4th August 2015
Still in my opinion the best jazz album of all time! Miles Davis is definitely one of my favourite artists and this album is his personal masterpiece- I could honestly listen to it forever. My dad used to play it when I was younger and when I started to discover and create my own music, I knew exactly where to go for inspiration. This album has been sampled and used countless times for various genres, which I believe is a testament to just how good it is.
I cannot recommend this enough and if you're on the fence about it, definitely go for it! In fact, I can safely recommend almost any of Miles Davis' music for anybody who's into any genre- believe you me, you will not be disappointed! Love this album and absolutely love Miles Davis! You will not regret getting this!
10/10 Jack Customer review, 10th February 2015
This is THE jazz album to start off with. I'm sure you've all heard that before, but, it's quite true. From Freddie Freeloader to All Blues, we are constantly reminded of what a genius time it was for jazz in that period. Just look at the all-star line-up on here, Cannonball, Coltrane, Bill - simply amazing! This is a disc that everyone has heard before at some point in their life whether they were aware or not. The saying that this is the most influential jazz record may be true, I tend to think its the most rewarding. This re-release version is superb! It contains an alternative version of "Flamenco Sketches" and original photo package to boot. the sound is by far the best this recording has ever seen. This is a recording the word masterpiece is reserved for. An absolute must own!
