9/10 Brian Staff review, 27 April 2011

I'm not sure 10 O' clock in t' morning is the appropriate time to be listening to grumbling sheets of ominous dark ambience but hey, this new Belgian label needs a shout so here goes! Actually, it's a bit of a red herring is the first track as the action really shifts up another gear on 'Hidden Base'. This track has this excellent bloopy electronic rhythm/loop that is under-laid with some of the most wonderful alternating noises, frequencies & dark drones, snatches of disembodied dialogue and what sounds like electronic crickets chirruping!! Then it's over and into woozy, burbling dark cosmic territory for maximum astral projection. 'Positronium II' builds to a thrilling and rather alarming climax, indulging in metallic morse code with wonky malevolent synths threatening to become self-aware & consume you whole. This is cracking, quality gear with remarkable depth I reckon! Onto side two and the mentalism remains. Recent recordings by Our Love Will Destroy the World & Astral Social Club have showcased a bizarre penchant for warped tropical techno-flecked material & the crazed yet brief 'Mitlt'is designed to decimate & upset the hardiest of dancers. More industrial-tinged dark ambience comes temporarily rumbling into town next before an epic conclusion which marries hypnotic, hovering ambient tones with rustling sound art & glitch. A real head-trip of a piece, simultaneously spiritual & thought provoking. Nice work Mr. Kolf!!
