We forgot to put these new Great Pop Supplement 7"s down for pre-order - probably my fault - so if you've bought them elsewhere and already know all about them you can ignore these words. I couldn't review the Damon & Naomi one because Damon's demented boffin hair totally freaked me out & he actually looks just like a corpse re-animated whereas the willowy Naomi, who I've never really thought particularly about before has blossomed into a very beautiful woman indeed! That's the sleeve for the other single reviewed then. This one can review itself. The Spectrum side is everything you want. Prime Stereolab/Neu/Spacemen 3 heavenly motorik bliss! I think bands like Holy fuck & Eat Lights Become Lights should lick Kember's boots for all eternity. NY's Cheval Sombre don't hit the mark quite so much for me. This is a Sonic Boom mix adds all manner of cosmic fairy dust to what is essentially a meandering, stunted acoustic ballad. His voice sounds too high in the mix but the underlying effects are fucking astonishing. If I could put this through a mixing desk & just remove the song (which to be fair, is perfectly pleasant, if not a little wistful) and crank those whooshing UFO sounds up to the max....then I'd be a happy man indeed. All said & done this is a great single.
