How lovely - The sleeve contains a small booklet with a list of 200 records that inspired along with some photos of the sleeves. An endearing gesture to share sounds that have moved and inspired. Things begin with dramatic piano and angelic female vocal and then spoken word (french language I think) vocal layered above giving a feel of Coil mixed with Dead Can Dance. It's clear we're in somewhat dramatic and darker territory. That mood runs throughout the LP albeit things are more heavenly and ethereal/ gothic rather than sinister and doom-like. Reading the list of records in the booklet and listening to the record make perfect sense as to where these sounds have come from. Expect everything from pretty twinkling bells and strings to occasional injections of harsher more oppressive sounds. There are a few moments that recall the sounds used on Coil's 'The Ape Of Naples' but honestly for me that record is in a league of its own. Certainly some interesting moments and channeled emotions to be heard here though. Hand numbered edition of 100 'Father pressed' (ask google) copies.
