Ultra strong split release here from two heavyweights. Gunn offers up his blues-soaked vision of American folk music with highly skillful guitar playing that becomes really quite hypnotic. Moments recall the likes of Mark Lanegan, Peter Green, John Fahey, Jack Rose etc. I don't recall Gunn's vocals being as integral to the track on his past recordings but then my memory is well shafted. Mister Ilyas Ahmed takes control on the flip with something that could have fallen off of his Between Two Skies/Towards The Night albums which were reissued on Immune. Basically a lovely psychedelic folk tune with hypnotic guitar and slight devotional leanings. Sleeve is a collage by Ahmed himself and there's also a download code lurking somewhere inside.
