Heavy tings here on the second album by True Widow, first released in 2011. As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth has the emotional weight of slowcore as well as the distorted-riff weight of stoner rock. Mighty stuff. Reissued on vinyl by Mexican Summer.
8/10 Jack Customer review, 1st March 2018
The 2nd album from this Texas band is built on a thunderous, distorted beauty that is compellingly gorgeous, heavy and slow--a dreamy, mud-bank metal/celestial drone-drawl. Think Mazzy Star sludging through a thick, boggy, dreary, dismal swamp with a plodding, hypnotic allure. If you liked the self-titled album, then you will love this one. The album is great, and if you are a True Widow fan, I highly recommend it. If you aren't, but you are looking for something completely different, and want something to shake your insides...you need to grab it.
