Slightly disappointing to read that the concept of this record is not about The Ultimate Warrior taking the Belt from Hulk Hogan at an afternoon of WWF Wrestlemania. Rather it is about The Angel wrestling with Jacob (presumably not the King of the cream cracker brand?). The setup here consists of Kevin Drumm handling duties on analog synth and electronics, Noetinger on electronics and Piotrowicz on analogue synth and guitar. The A-side is unsettling from the off with crackling synth and a high-pitched frequency assault over this distant irregular hearbeat whilst weird analogue gurgles and demonic belches emerge. Nice work from the trio, having a loosely improvised yet conceptual appeal. Things proceed in a doomed and bleak manner as the synths start crying out in tortured pain and I feel like I'm trapped in a gargantuan vortex (there's no escape...) which eventually spits out my crumbling skeleton. The flipside is an equally terrifying journey into a world of molten synth pulses and detuned guitar assault. The synths evolve into these weird mechanical bird calls with the track threatening to descend into utter chaos at any given point but things just become more intense and cerebral as the evolving soundscape slowly decays as it loses the will to live.
