I thought that this record was going to be a straight indie-folk type affair, but was pleasantly surprised to put it on and discover the first track 'Eleven' is a right old dancefloor stomper, much closer to the likes of M.I.A. than what we're used to from these ladies. We get back to the brittle, silky-voiced folk we were expecting after that, but there's more surprises later on too. 'Rubies and Rocks' is classic-sounding funk/soul with trumpets and handclaps, and 'How Dare You' brings in minimal beats and synths to good effect. A well-rounded and fascinating collaboration for sure, and very slickly produced. Definitely feels like more than just a side-project.
