Oddly enough we've never reviewed any material by James Pants before?? Feel kinda bad now. Best review this new single then lads. Taken from J.P's 'S/T' outing on Stones Throw, these four tracks showcase a fine talent in it's prime. 9/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 20 April 2011

Oddly enough we've never reviewed any material by James Pants before?? Feel kinda bad now. Best review this new single then lads. Taken from J.P's 'S/T' outing on Stones Throw, these four tracks showcase a fine talent in it's prime. J.P not only has a very strange, otherworldly falsetto vocal style, he also has the whole multi-instrumentalist/producer combo going on too. What a guy! Really like these tracks. It's kinda effortless soundtrack influenced pop that takes in the sights along the way. Opener 'Clouds Over The Pacific' is a light dreamy bontempi pop affair that makes fantastic use of pizzicato strings and soft synth pads. Sorta reminds me of the ambitious efforts of Danger Mouse or maybe Beck but with better tunes more akin to 80's synthpop. The B-side tracks are equally as appealing on a beautiful Summer's day like today and make me wonder why I've not paid more attention to this lad in the past. Totally excellent bedroom productive genius!
