Fuck me, this record has taken an age to come in. It's well worth the wait, obviously, as these two highly respected pan-generational dreads sure make an exciting collaborative prospect! Both Perry originals are given a respectful sonic dusting by the DMZ don. 'Like the Way You Should' is a chilled and lovely piece featuring a mantra-like Perry croon given a shoulder ride consisting of yearning trance synth, tender piano flourishes and a mellow roots groove. One of the most under-stated Mala mixes I've heard, very soulful. 'Obeah Room' is more typical of the young zen-master's brooding bass-sculpting prowess. A stumbling shuffle-step of a beat with a bizarre dying android mid-range zig-zag, thrumming, raspy low-end & wonderful circular, disorientating intonations from Perry make this one of his stranger left-field excursions and all the more vital for it. The way it keeps cutting out during the breakdown is quite bizarre, I can imagine a few perplexed profiles on the dancefloor!!
