Hmm, dis good I like. Umberto seem to be really tickling the fancy of giallo sound lovers everywhere of late and their contribution to this pleasantly white 7" is a beauty. It's almost like two tracks bolted together really, beginning with a gentle beat pulsing underneath some eerily evocative synth work which then drops out entirely to be replaced by what could almost be an electro click track before an entirely different, both ethereal and woozily disorientating, melody comes in, complemented by some ghostly female 'Aaaaaahs' which'll almost definitely have you thinking of buxom, sloppily-dubbed young ladies in flowing white dresses running in slow motion around abandoned boarding schools. Well it should do, anyway. And even if it doesn't I'm sure you'll still think that it's totally fantastic. CVLTS are new to me and they sound pretty swish, doing that whole 'ambient soundtrack to a weird, sinister flashback in a David Lynch film' thing with the utmost skill. It feels like their stuff'll work way better in an album format but this has certainly piqued my interest in their output.
