I thought Black Lips were supposed to be totally shit? This is alright! I mean it's totally sloppy, punky garage rock played on guitars that sound like they cost about three quid and that's a thing that's hard to get totally wrong no matter how hard you try, in my experience.. I reckon all the hate must be 'cos they're on Vice or summat. I bet they're proper fun live. Strange Boys seem a peculiar proposition, beginning like some sort of bar band on a particularly easygoing Hawaiian bar before going all honky tonk before going all 'country band doing a weird take on Ska' before going all afro-pop before going all electro hip-hop before going all Southern fried rock before finishing their side, leaving me wondering what exactly they did there. Oh it's called 'American Radio'.. Now I see what they did there.
